Today's "Top of the Blog" Comment

We left Rocky Mountain National Park for home today shortly before Noon after getting a phone call that Ellen Foyle passed away this (Saturday) morning.
We were just ready to start a 5 day camping stay inside the park but in no way could we enjoy that special event knowing we would not be there for Ellen and her family.
Within 90 minutes of getting the phone call we were on the road heading home.
We drove 400 of the 1200 miles to get home today and will be home on Monday.
This is probably the end of the blog.

From within we can only say that Ellen Foyle holds a very special place in our hearts and she will be deeply missed.
Love, Ellen & Jim

Wednesday - Loveland, Colorado

Great day today.

Left in the car with the two girls to have a look around.
Drove to Longmont, my old city of employment 37 years ago, to have a look around.
Wow!  Back then it was a tiny town.  Now it's a big city!  I recognized nothing.
Thought we would have lunch at a great Mexican restaurant I remembered from "way back then" but could not even find it (assuming it even still exists).  Also could not locate my place of employment.

We just drove on down to Boulder.  Wanted to have a look at Golden Canyon State Park up in the mountains and needed to go through Boulder to get there.  Boulder is huge!  Didn't stop there for lunch either - just kept driving. up the canyon.  At about 10,000 feet in elevation we found Golden Canyon SP.  They were full!!!!!

Didn't want to have made the trip for nothing so we took a 2 hour hike with the dogs.  Very nice trail and we really needed the exercise!  We got it.  It was only 3 miles round trip, but uphill and at 10,000 feet we were "whooped" when we got back to the car.  But it was BEAUTIFUL!

We came back to Loveland via the scenic route straight North skirting Rocky Mountain National Park until we reached Estes Park.  Then directly East to get back to Loveland.  About a 120 mile trip for the day.

Estes Park is the entrance to the National Park and we are going back tomorrow with the motor home to camp for three nights.  We can't get into RMNP before Sunday to camp.  Loveland is nice, but Estes Park is fantastic!  And from there we can drive into the park an easy 2 miles down the road from the campground.

So much to see and do here!  We are fortunate to have a full week in the area before heading home.  We are having a "Rocky Mountain High".

Look for pictures below.
