Today's "Top of the Blog" Comment

We left Rocky Mountain National Park for home today shortly before Noon after getting a phone call that Ellen Foyle passed away this (Saturday) morning.
We were just ready to start a 5 day camping stay inside the park but in no way could we enjoy that special event knowing we would not be there for Ellen and her family.
Within 90 minutes of getting the phone call we were on the road heading home.
We drove 400 of the 1200 miles to get home today and will be home on Monday.
This is probably the end of the blog.

From within we can only say that Ellen Foyle holds a very special place in our hearts and she will be deeply missed.
Love, Ellen & Jim

Thursday - Estes Park, CO

Nothing to do in Loveland other than enjoy the view of the front range of the Rockys from our campsite. No complaint!  We decided to go into Estes Park for three days and make some day trips around and into RMNP as Estes is right at the entrance to the NP.

Didn't think we would have a problem getting a campsite here, but got a big surprise this morning when I made some calls.  "No Space Available" was all I heard.  There is a huge Scottish/Irish Highlands Festival (32nd annual) here in town this weekend and everything is booked months in advance.  I'll try to keep this short, but I called back to the RV Park we really wanted to stay in 30 minutes later to leave my name on a wait list.  By then they had some reservation changes and we were able to "snag" a two night stay.  I think we will be able to stay all three, but it could not be confirmed today.  Anyway, this town is BUSY.  We are going to check out the Festival schedule of events and try to experience some of the activities (eating, drinking, river dancing, etc.) while we are here.

We kind of layed back today and just drove into town this afternoon to grocery shop.  Ended up having a late lunch / early dinner of fresh Colorado Trout before even getting to the store.

Lots to do tomorrow including another hike and scenic drive.  Pictures tomorrow - nothing from today.

We heard from Cindy and Mike this morning and they drove all day yesterday to arrive home at 10:30pm.  Glad they made it!  Did some "serious" driving to get that motor home to Elkhart in one day from South Dakota.  Good job Mike!
