Today's "Top of the Blog" Comment

We left Rocky Mountain National Park for home today shortly before Noon after getting a phone call that Ellen Foyle passed away this (Saturday) morning.
We were just ready to start a 5 day camping stay inside the park but in no way could we enjoy that special event knowing we would not be there for Ellen and her family.
Within 90 minutes of getting the phone call we were on the road heading home.
We drove 400 of the 1200 miles to get home today and will be home on Monday.
This is probably the end of the blog.

From within we can only say that Ellen Foyle holds a very special place in our hearts and she will be deeply missed.
Love, Ellen & Jim

Tuesday - Deadwood to Loveland, CO

Looking back on today we wish we would have stayed in Deadwood a third night and drove around the scenic Black Hills loop including Lead, Spearfish, Central City, and Sturgis.  Rain was threatening and we thought it might not be a good driving day, but it turned out to be dry as we were driving out of town.  We did not do Deadwood justice with the pictures taken because we expected to be back in town another day.  It was a town we would go back to and highly recommend to anyone traveling this way.

We drove 370 miles out of South Dakota, into Wyoming, and then on down into Colorado ending up at Boyd Lake State Park in Loveland, Co.  We are just 35 miles East of Rocky Mountain National Park - our real next destination.  But, we could not get in until Sunday and then have to leave on Friday limiting us to only a 5 night stay.  We are close enough to drive into the park from here just to "check it out".  Also want to drive to Longmont, Co - the city I worked in 37 years ago - less than one hour away.  And we plan to visit one more state park West of Boulder (Golden Gate Canyon) before heading into RMNP.

Mike and Cindy are staying a second night in Palisades State Park in Eastern  SD.

I will post pictures tonight if I can.
